About Us
Taking a Career Break is part of a group of travel sites intent on encouraging people to travel for longer, find a job abroad or take a gap year or career break. Though gap year information exists on all our websites, in Taking a Career Break we have selected a range of career breaks and volunteer work projects to suit all ages, budgets and interests.
Taking a Career Break is Deirdre Higgins, a veteran of the working week in France, Belgium, Peru, Britain and Ireland, and Shane Donovan who has successfully evaded a real job for several years. We have taken a number of extended trips ourselves, including travelling the world for a year, and have lived in Peru, Greece and for the past five years in Turkey. We work on our websites as we travel and have helped people find paid and volunteer jobs In Australia, France and China while we have been in, among other places, Bolivia, Lebanon or Malaysia..
